Paua Shell Buttons have been primarily used throughout the Indigenous (L'nu) Culture as the primary button for Button Shawls, Blankets and Wraps.
Beautiful in the richness of the inner colors of the Paua Shell which is also used as our Smudging bowls.
Each Button is hand carved and drilled. Therefor no two buttons will be alike in texture, color or thickness. We have done our best to keep to the 16mm dimension to offer consistency in button holes and pattern building for decoration.
Although Abalone Shells have been the time honored "go to' for our buttons and bowls, the Paua Shell is more readily and consistently available to us. Side by side, these two shells share very similar qualities and appeal.
